Our Executive team

​CHUNGSEN LEUNG
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Chungsen Leung is a former Member of Parliament representing the riding of Willowdale, one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Canada. He served as Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism and assisted in managing the portfolios of: immigration, citizenship and multiculturalism. He accompanied Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Stephen Harper on their official visits to: China, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Israel and Jordan. He was instrumental in twinning Toronto-Chongqing and Richmond Hill-Shijiazhuang.

Prior to entering politics, Mr. Leung was a successful entrepreneur with business in: water purification, building disaster relief houses, hotel operations, deer farming, agriculture products export, and electronic products manufacturing. As an early founder of the Chinese Business Association in Ontario, he worked to promote and expand cultural and trade relationships between Canada and the countries of the Asia Pacific Region.

Mr. Leung is a public accountant and engineer, specializing in urban mass transit systems. He received his formal education in Japan, Canada and the United States. He is conversant in Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese.
BESS SONG MBA PMP
PRESIDENT
Bess Song has 20+ years of professional and business experience in a variety of industries, including project management, marketing and business development in Canada, Italy and China. Bess was Chief Liaison Officer for an Italian company operating in China. She was also part of the project management team for a New-Zealand based engineering consulting firm and assisted in four construction projects for fortune 500 companies before emigrating to Canada. In Canada, Bess undertook a number of consulting projects. She was also an Employment Consultant in a government agency. 

Bess holds an MBA degree from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, a PMP (Project Management Professional) designation and a diploma in Career and Work Counsellor program from George Brown College.

Bess is passionate about giving back to the community. For over a decade, she has voluntarily shared her expertise and time as a board member of a number of community and professional organizations, including the Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC),  Chinese Project Management Professionals Association of Canada (CPMP) and the Alumni Chapter of the Career and Work Counsellor program at George Brown College.
PHILIP HE FMA MBA 
DIRECTOR
Philip He is the President of Handbond Financial Solutions Inc., which specializes in wealth management, assets allocation planning and implantation. He also had 7 years of management experiences, coached many financial advisors of various ethnic backgrounds and managed a number of branches of Sun Life Financial. He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, the Premier Association of Financial Professionals® in the world. 


Mr. He is committed to helping the community. He is the Executive  Chairman of the Federation of Canadian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the President of Hebei Chamber of Commerce of Canada, and the Advisor of Toronto Chinese Media Professional Association. He is also Business Ambassador for the town of Richmond Hill, Ontario.  
 
Mr. He has an MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University and holds a designation of Financial Management Advisor.  ​
XIAOLI YANG
DIRECTOR
Xiaoli Yang has practiced business law for 20 years, is the Chief Lawyer and Principal Partner of Hebei Dechuang Law Firm in Hebei Province, China. She has served as legal advisor to many companies , both private and public. 

Ms. Yang plays multiple roles at the Hebei Law Society. She is the Vice President of the Environmental and Resource Protection Law of Hebei Province, Executive Director of the Labor Law Research Association, and a member of the Expert Panel. She is also Executive Director of the Shijiazhuang Lawyers Association, as well as Director of the Professional Committee of the environment and resources. 

Ms. Yang is a member of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shijiazhuang. She is a recipient of the Excellent Lawyer award of Hebei Province and the city of Shijiazhuang. ​
PAL DI IULIO
​ADVISOR
Pal Di Iulio is a respected professional, whose career in the seniors care sector in the Greater Toronto Area, spans more than three decades. In 1984, after a number of years as an entrepreneur, Mr. Di Iulio joined Villa Charities Inc. as its Executive Director and eventually the CEO until his retirement in Sept. 2015. 

Villa Charities Inc. is a multi service, senior care organization, providing independent living, long term care  and day programs, in a culturally sensitive environment. It also provides services to developmentally challenged adults and day care for hundreds of children, as well as educational/recreational/cultural programs in two campuses  serving  the neighbourhood and the community at large.

Mr. Di Iulio is a well known leader of the Italian Canadian community who has served on numerous community/government organizations, including the Canadian Multicultural Council,  the Judicial Appointment Advisory Committee,  the Community Council of Rogers/OMNI TV and as Chair of the Italian Canadian Advisory Committee / Community Historical Recognition Project, Ministry of Immigration, Government of Canada. ​​
DR. FABIO VARLESE ​MD, FRCPC
ADVISOR
Dr. Varlese is a prominent specialist in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He is the former Medical Program Director of the Rehabilitation Department and the Acute Care Unit at Baycrest Hospital. Dr. Varlese currently holds a position as staff Specialist at Mt. Sinai hospital and at Baycrest Center for Geriatric Care. He is the Honorary Medical Director at Villa Colombo Vaughan and recently accepted the position of VP of Medical Services at Runnymede Hospital.

He is the Founder of the Toronto Clinic, an Executive Health Centre at the forefront of the highest standards of medical care, personalization of service, Precision Medicine and medical innovation serving the corporate executive world. He is the founder of Global Medical Consulting, a satellite entity of the Toronto Clinic which addresses rare and life altering medical conditions, helping patients find innovative breakthrough treatments that can improve health outcomes.

He currently holds the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and both his academic and professional work have honoured him with numerous prestigious awards.
